Questions fréquemment posées sur la podologie et les semelles orthopédiques
The answer will most likely be yes if you have pain that bothers you when you walk, when you work, or when you play sports. If not, the podiatrist will need more time to examine the reason for your visit and to tell you what the best things to do are to help you. We would be happy to assist you by inviting you to schedule a call with one of our team members to see what can be done to help you. There is obviously no obligation to make an appointment with us once the call is over. The goal is to help you find what is best to do, even if it’s not with us.
Having feet that turn inward or flat feet is something normal. If you have flat feet but do not experience pain, insoles are probably not necessary. However, if in addition to flat feet you have pain, insoles can be very helpful in reducing the forces on the affected area and significantly relieve the pain.
I usually recommend that patients wear their insoles when they are on their feet a lot, for example when they are working, going for a walk, or doing other sports. It is during these times that the feet are most stressed and the insoles have their effect.
In Europe, unfortunately, many people who distribute insoles have only taken a weekend course, or even no course at all. Currently, you can buy insoles from individuals whose level of experience can vary greatly. This means that mistakes can be made in understanding your problem, in the manufacturing process, and especially in how the insoles are adjusted if your symptoms do not improve. Therefore, I advise you to pay attention to this and to research their qualifications and expertise (which are usually listed on their website).
The importance of feet and the expertise of a foot health specialist is crucial for several reasons:
• People suffering from severe foot pain are more likely to become depressed
• Foot problems have a negative impact on quality of life
• Individuals with symptoms in the feet have an increased risk of mortality
Choosing a foot health specialist can therefore play an essential role in your overall health.
